October 22, 2026
October 31, 2026 is a Saturday, and on Saturdays from June 6 through November 21, with one skipped date in September, the Northport Farmers Market sets up in the Cow Harbor parking lot at the foot of Main Street. So the village's Halloween morning event is built around the market. The Howl-Ween Pet Parade lines up in Northport Village Park at 9 a.m., walks to the market and holds its costume contest there. The market is one of the parade's presenters, and its vendors and volunteers are the judges.
Most of the rest of Northport's Halloween week runs along the same strip of Main Street, put on by shops, a café, a church and the theater. Here's how the days line up, starting with the one that matters most.
The Village of Northport's flyer lists four presenters: Suffolk County Legislator Stephanie Bontempi, Mayor Donna Koch, Village Trustee Monica Zenyuh and the Northport Farmers Market. Here are the details from the flyer:
The flyer gives no registration steps, so the plan is simply to show up at the gazebo with a costumed pet. It doesn't map a route either. It names only the start at the gazebo and the finish at the market in the Cow Harbor lot.
The calendar matters here. The market sets up on Saturdays only, so a parade that ends at the market only works when Halloween falls on a Saturday.
The prize sponsor is a Main Street business too. PetPort lists its address as 40 Main Street. So the parade starts at the park, ends at the market and gets its prizes from a shop on the same street. Even the donations stay fairly close to home: they go to a shelter in Elwood, also in the Town of Huntington.
The Village's own website calendar shows "No events" for every day from October 22 through October 31. But the Village homepage promotes the pet parade, and the flyer has the actual schedule. To see what else is happening, check the Northport Chamber of Commerce events page and the listings of individual businesses. Put together, the Saturday looks like this:
The Moksha party starts half an hour before the market packs up, so the two overlap and there's no break between the morning and afternoon events.
The Halloween-week events in the days before October 31 come from the same kinds of places: a design shop, a church, a historical society and a studio on Main. This post goes live on Thursday, October 22, the first day on this list.
Thursday, October 22. GME Interiors at 146-5 Main Street hosts a day of shopping, design and inspiration, welcoming Cat Donohue, from noon to 7 p.m.
Saturday, October 24. Nest on Main continues its business workshop series. The series is presented by Weaver and led by Jessica Affatato, formerly of Harbor Cheese and now Weaver's founder.
Sunday, October 25. This is the busiest day before Halloween itself:
Monday, October 26. Toni and Holly lead a Holiday Birdhouse Decoupage Workshop at Nest on Main. It's a hands-on session that turns a plain birdhouse into a holiday piece. It's the first holiday-themed item on the Chamber calendar, and it arrives five days before Halloween.
A free history lecture and a church-lot Trunk or Treat happen on the same afternoon, and both are run by long-standing local groups, not event promoters.
The 2026 market season runs through November 21, with no market on September 19. That makes 24 market Saturdays this year. Halloween is the 21st, so three remain: November 7, 14 and 21. As the market winds down, the village calendar shifts to indoor events.
| Date | What's on | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Sun., Nov. 1 | Chamber member Karla Saltos runs the TCS NYC Marathon with Book Fairies | Listed on the Chamber calendar |
| Fri., Nov. 6 | Mary Beth Keane, author of Whale Harbor, in conversation with Heather Aimee O'Neill | Northport Books |
| Fri., Nov. 6 | Board Game Free For All, with snacks provided and the full menu available | Moksha Café |
| Sat., Nov. 7 | AWARE's family-oriented Color Run | Northport Middle School |
| Sat., Nov. 7 | Autumn Wine Experience with sommelier and owner Joe VanRoten, $35 per person with small bites | Moksha Café |
| Nov. 12 to Dec. 27 | How the Grinch Stole Christmas | John W. Engeman Theater |
| Sat., Nov. 21 | Last farmers market of the 2026 season | Cow Harbor lot |
Saturday, November 7 is a good example of the season's shift. The market is still open, the Chamber lists the Color Run as a family-friendly morning, and Moksha moves to a sommelier-led tasting. Five days later, How the Grinch Stole Christmas opens at the Engeman and runs through December 27. The show opens nine days before the last market on November 21 and keeps going for more than five weeks after it.
Halloween falling on a Saturday makes the connection between these events easy to see. The Village promotes the parade, but the market hosts it, its vendors judge it, a Main Street shop supplies the prizes and a Main Street café hosts the afternoon. The Northport Historical Society's events page and the Chamber calendar fill in the rest of the week.
